Who Can Join? 1st – 3rd grade students can join the non-auditioned Cadet Choir. Older singers must audition for placement.
What is the Audition Like? It’s not scary! Come to your audition prepared to sing one verse of any simple song, from memory, unaccompanied. The conductor will then clap and play patterns that singers will echo back. Your audition will last only about 20 minutes, and you will know immediately if you are accepted into HYC and your choir placement.
Where Do I Go? Auditions and rehearsals take place at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue in Clive, Iowa.
How Much Does It Cost? The fees for Heartland Youth Choir are based on how much time each choir rehearses. The fees range from $40 - $95 per month. There is also a music/activity fee and you will need to purchase some uniform pieces. Upper level choirs also have optional touring opportunities. Tuition scholarships are available based on financial need.
When Does the Fun Begin?
Auditions for the Heartland Youth Choir will be held in August and
September. Appointments are being scheduled now! Rehearsals will begin in
August for older students and in September for younger students. Call

What's an Informance?
An Informance is a
rehearsal/ performance. Families and friends are invited to attend and see
what your singer has learned so far. We ask that each family provide a
dozen cookies or bars (something that can be eaten without plates or
utensils) for the reception afterward.
Will businesses be invited to advertise in this year's Wintersong and Worldsong concert books? We are currently looking for businesses to advertise in the programs for the WinterSongs Concert in December and also the WorldSongs Concert next May. If you own a business, we hope you will consider placing an ad with HYC. In addition to 4000+ people seeing your ad, you will receive TWO FREE TICKETS to one of the concerts! That's a $24 value! Will families be invited to recognize their singers in the Wintersong and Worldsong concert books? We are offering parents the opportunity to recognize your singer in the program with a Personal Note. The cost for a Personal Note is $15, and will be included in the WinterSongs program. You will have the opportunity again in the Spring. Give you singers a note of encouragement, and let them know how proud you are of all of their accomplishments.
